Boards and Commissions

The Town of San Anselmo has several Boards, Commissions, and Committees to advise the Town Council and staff on policy matters, and to help implement the programs and projects of the Town. All meetings of these advisory groups are open to everyone. Agendas are posted on the Public Notice Bulletin Board outside Town Hall at least three days in advance of the meeting.

Residents are invited to apply to the Town Council for appointment to the Boards, Commissions, and Committees. For an application or for more information, please contact Jeannie Courteau at Town Hall (258-4691).

The on-line "fill-in" application is also available in the Adobe Acrobat file format by clicking the "Get Adobe Acrobat" link above.

The fill-in application ( listed below ) is set up so that you may complete the application while it is open on your computer screen. After opening the form through the Acrobat Reader simply type the information in the appropriate locations. Once you have completed the application, save a copy of your application to disk and then print your completed application on your local printer.

The Town Hall and Council Chambers are located at 525 San Anselmo Avenue.

Art Commission

(Meet 2nd Monday of the month in the Town Hall conference room, 2nd floor at 7:00 p.m.)

The Commission was created to add to the cultural character of the Town through all forms of artistic expression, by providing a structure to facilitate the creation of art in all disciplines in the community.

Historical Commission

(Meets at 7:30 p.m. on 3rd Wednesday in the Historical Museum) The Historical Commission was created to preserve the history of San Anselmo by means of research and the collection and organization of information, photographs and artifacts concerning the town's development and to make San Anselmo's historical heritage known to the community.

Library Advisory Board

Meet 4:30 on 3rd Thursday, every 2 months (January, March, May, July, September, November) in Library.

The main functions of the Library Advisory Board are to recommend guidelines for programs and facilities to meet the Library needs of the community, to review reports from the Librarians concerning Library operations, to seek ways of informing residents of Library services, and to solicit their constructive comments, and to encourage innovative programs.

Capital Programs Monitoring Committee

(Meet regularly, as needed, Town Hall Conference Room)

The Capital Programs Monitoring Committee is charged with monitoring the construction, financing, and public communication of the $10.8 million general obligation bond measure approved by the voters in June, 1995. The bond measure is financing improvements to streets, storm drains, and the library building.

Open Space Committee

(Meet 7:30 p.m. on 3rd Wednesday in the Town Hall Council Chambers
The Open Space Committee assists the Town in acquiring or preserving open space, providing public trails and greenbelts, advising on planning and land use policies regarding open space, raising funds for open space acquisition, and educating the community about open space issues.

Parks and Recreation Commission

Meet the third Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in the Town Hall Council Chambers, 525 San Anselmo Avenue.

The Commission is responsible to advise the Town Council with regard to parks and recreation matters, including the management, conduct and care of the parks and playgrounds.

The Marin Commission on Aging is comprised of representatives from all the cities and County of Marin, and advises, advocates, and educates on issues of concern to older persons.

Mosquito Abatement District Board of Trustees

Representative (meets ea. month)
The Board of Trustees, comprised of representatives from the cities and Counties of Marin and Sonoma, establishes policy and guidelines for the operation of the District, which is charged with exterminating mosquitoes.

Ross Valley Paramedic Authority Board of Directors

The Board of Directors oversees the operations of the Ross Valley Paramedic Authority, which provides public paramedic service to San Anselmo, and other areas of the Ross Valley.
